General Election 2023

We're quickly coming up on the 2023 General Election, and it's an important one for Brier residents! We have 4 City Council positions on the ballot this year.

Positions

  • Position 4 - Four year regular term
    • Candidates:
      • Valerie Rosman (Incumbent, since 2020)
      • Derek Hamilton
      • Christopher Roman Young
  • Position 5 - Four year regular term
    • Candidates:
      • David Marley (Incumbent, since 2020)
      • Kevin Davis
  • Position 6 - Four year regular term
    • Candidates:
      • Hisham (Sham) Othman
    • Incumbent: Dennis J. Nick (since 2006) - Not running for re-election
  • Council-at-Large - Two year regular term
    • Candidates:
      • Daniel Allen
      • Kristin Bigoff
    • Incumbent: Donald (Don) Moran (since 2021) - Not running for re-election

How to run for office

Are you interested in running for one of those positions? Great! The Snohomish County website has everything you need to know about how to file for office and more: https://snohomishcountywa.gov/5729/Run-for-Office

In short, here's what you need to do:

  1. Pick a position to run for and file to be a candidate between May 15, 2023 at 9AM to May 19, 2023 at 4PM (5PM if filing in person). You can file for office online, by email, by fax, in person, or by mail - see the link below
  2. Declare your candidacy with the Public Disclosure Commission
  3. Submit your candidate statement to be included in the voters' pamphlet

Snohomish County also has a helpful 2023 Candidate Guide and hosts workshops and seminars for candidates to learn more.

Primary Information

Ballots for the Primary will be due on August 1, 2023. Any race with more than two candidates will be on the ballot to narrow down to the top two candidates for the General Election.

Since there are three candidates running for Position 4, Brier residents will have that race on the Primary ballot this year. Be sure to vote in the Primary!

Election Day

The 2023 General Election is on November 7, 2023. Make sure you turn in your ballot on time!
